Afraid To Die?  Don't Be!
The thought of dying is troubling for all of us when it becomes painfully obvious.  Yet, the Bible engages its greatest forcefulness against death.  Jesus Christ rose triumphantly over death and the grave.  The Holy Spirit understands what we feel in the face of certain death.  He knows perfectly and personally our emotions of feeling vulnerable and helpless.  Yet, He never tires, nor slumbers or weakens in all His doings to comfort us.

The apostle Paul sat in a Roman prison awaiting a violent execution.  He was ready to die.  He believed that dying was not the end, but just the beginning of unhindered fellowship with the living God.

Death will hunt and hurt you in this life; but it cannot follow you in to heaven. "Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His saints." Psalm 116:15

  • In The Face of Death... Responding To God

It is a fact:  when one dies, they are not dead.  People are living souls and will live forever.  For Christians, living forever in the presence of God is a reality.  Sometimes, our lives will experience, even require a major disruption in order to fix our attention firmly on the Lord.   Never disregard those moments when dying has become painfully obvious as an obstacle.  They are tools in the hand of our Master.

Though sometimes painful, these times can become our most life-altering moments, depending on how we respond.  Take a moment to be still before God.  Meditate on the person of Jesus Christ and His faithfulness. Thank God, that He is forever with us.

More than anything or anyone, we need the assurance that God's Word IS absolute.    The Bible alone is our assurance that God is in control and accessible (Hebrews 4:16). Only Christians possess the blessed assurance they are not alone in the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23).  Thank God for the B.I.B.L.E. ! Amen.

Sincerely, Dr. Arthur Belanger
